WATER SPORTS; or insignificant white boys by Jeremy O. Harris
It's July 5, 2015 and tomorrow James Baldwin will depart for the MacDowell Colony where he plans on writing his first "gay" work, GIOVANNI'S ROOM, but first he has to make brunch with Robert Mapplethorpe because they've invited over guests.
In this new, in-process work, Jeremy O. Harris delves deep into his psyche discover what it means to be "fluid" and how one begins the work of decolonizing their desire when they already feel set. This is a memory play, a fantasy, and a book of poetry.
This work was created through residency support from the MacDowell Colony.
